My original plan to cycle 100 km per day and take one day off a week has changed. I cycle every day and keep the day off for when I really need it to recover. So far I am doing fine. My Bike-Navi is on strike and I have to use the phone now. Thanks to Mo I carry a strong power bank with me which I now make use off.
When we left J. Zap asked me “So what’s your song?”. I had no song L . So I said if any then “Bicycle from Queen” and we sang a line of it together – good fun, good laugh.
As time goes by I have all kind of songs that come up in m head. Usually it’s just a line that matches a current feeling and not the complete text.
First one that popped up the fist day was “I’m on the road again” Unfortunately I could not sing it – I just cannot reach that high – so I hummed and whistled it – always just that one line.
Next day I saw mountains on the horizons – Alsace - and my first thought was “Holy S..t” and immediately after that came “That doesn’t impressing me much” lifting my spirit and my will. So this is how the mind is keeping itself busy, looking around and associating, matching up with the wonderful historical fictions I read and making me laugh a lot too.
When I climb up a mountain it is really hard work and very challenging even so I am driving an eBike - my pulse goes up very high (I have this watch from Mikel that monitors everything). I just keep my eyes focused on the road on the next 5 meters in front of me and try to avoid looking up to see how much further I have to go – unbearable to see at times. Then when I reach the top my heart pounding, my face probably red I heard myself singing “We can be heroes just for one mountain” Thank you David Bowie for this lovely song.
The Loire is very low on water as it was a hot and dry summer all over Europe - you can see it everywhere. I finally reached an area again where they grow wine. I love to nick a few grapes here and there – I never ate anything so juicy and sweet and making me feel so good.
Tomorrow end of day or latest Tuesday I will reach the Atlantic – That’s like a first milestone. Living in a landlocked country I am sooooo looking forward to see the ocean.
Attached a few images from the last days.
